When planning their engagement session, Alex and Tom told me they "aren't picture people" - which is more common than you'd think! We aligned on wanting a low-key, laidback, organic approach to their photos - for both this session and on their wedding day. I asked them to pick somewhere they would like to go. For me, that's the best way to let couples infuse their photos with what means the most to them, by simply letting them choose places and activities that feel natural. We decided the best route would be taking a walk around the Denver Botanic Gardens and letting things unfold as they may.
So, that's what we did! We talked about life, found common ground, and laughed as we snapped some of my favorite photos. My top picks from sessions usually have less to do with technical perfection, and more with natural movement, slight imperfections, or a moment I happened to catch - whatever it is, it's better when it flows from the couple. I guide my couples, but I don't like to make them feel overly stiff, and I always reassure them they cannot mess up photos of themselves. And I mean that!
